Wow, Steam got its hands on System Shock 2, a real classic from the past. I actually still have the boxed version on my shelf right now. Chris Avellone actually tweeted System Shock was on GOG months ago so I knew it had been released but now its on Steam too.
This is a classic you younger players may want to look at it. It is a Half Life system game with more story, kind of like Deus Ex, Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines. That sort of game. Not a straight shooter by any means.
A treat for scifi RPG fans and it still sounds great and supports modern PC screenmodes, something many newer games do not do.
System Shock on Steam (£4.98 on Sale, £6.99 normally)
Before you dash off an buy it, I estimate the game costs about the same on both sites once Steam sale ends. GOG usually through in extra stuff though that you do not usually see anymore.
I can confirm that System Shock whilst a Single Player game did have a coop mode patched in to it in a later patch. Though it was buggy, it did work.

In my youth I was a huge Starwars fan, so much so I can usually tell you exactly what changed between the various special editions George Lucas has released over the years. Even between the original releases and the first showing on TV as Video was starting to appear, George made changes to the series. Fine tuned the plot.
Then over time he updated the graphics too, used CGI to replace human actors with digital actors/monsters.
Most of the internal scenes were filmed originally in the UK, including all of Yodas scenes in the Empire Strikes back.
Disney were given some tax breaks as an incentive to bring the series back to the UK for the 7th movie and so it will be filmed around the UK in 2014. Most likely in sound studios again. Which means you can expect to see a long line of interviews of the old stars on TV when they arrive to start filming. That is usually what happens with these movies.
Dishonored at Gamersgate

Just a heads up for you all, Dishonored is on sale at Gamersgate for about £7.50 over the weekend. It had already dropped in price to £15 from £30. Players have told me it is a good game and nobody has mentioned bugs yet which for a Bethesda game was a amazing but it appears Bethesda are only the publisher not the developer.
I was not going to buy any more Bethesda games because they are far too buggy and to be honest, I strongly dislike the company and their treatment of their own customers anyway. But I decided for £7.50 it was worth the risk.
Somebody told me it is about 8 hours long, so it will pass my £1 per hour value for money test at that price. A friend told me has had over 30 hours out of it. We shall soon see.
Just one warning... they ran out of keys last night so I was not able to play it or download it until they got more keys. I googled this issue and it appears Gamersgate have had this issue before with Bethesda game offers. Demand out strips supply apparently.

A quick message to my voice actors, I have posted some of the lines for Helgen in the Voice actors guild on the forum. There are a few parts and 1 major one off part that needs to be handled carefully or it will just not work right. The Lore Priest part (not the characters actual name) needs to be spoken in an interesting and clear manner for example since it is a major part.
Those interested in doing the lines can find the lines posted HERE.
I have already recorded all the lines and have them in game now, so these are replacement lines you will be doing.
You will need to register on the site to access the Voice Actors Forum. Restricted Access users will find them selves unable to take part in the VA guild and should not message me about it.

As a scifi fan I cannot allow the passing of Ray Harryhausen to go by without comment. Most people think of George Lucas as a pioneer in scifi and in a lot of ways he was. But the world before Starwars was dominated the the works of Ray Harryhausen. He was vital to the classic era of scifi in the 50s and 60s and even 70s.

As we say good by the a visual effects master, I'll leave you with a link to his official website.
Scifi fans no doubt have several of his movies in their collection, now might a be good time to remember what he left us.

Stardock recently posted a report aimed at its customers since it is not a public company and has no share holders to report too. The report turned out to be very interesting.
It is a long report but I do recommend users read the game sections at the very least. As a webmaster I found CEO Brad Wardell other information interesting too.
It seems Stardock has a very good year last year with the release of Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion & Fallen Enchantress and has been hiring. They got the designer of Civilization 4 onboard already, which is in my opinion the best Civ game available. Alpha Centauri being the best Civ style game if we look at all civ clones too.
The report looks in to new projects they play to release as well as the difference new staff has made to their projects.
More interestingly Brad Celebrates the death of the 32bit OS and Directx 9 + 2gig of ram games and looks forward to making 64bit games with at min of Directx10. He explains some interesting differences between the older system and newer system that we should look out for in the future.

I am getting some very odd questions from people that sound confused by what quests run in Helgen and when they are run. In nearly all cases the player assumed something and skipped a step.
The mod you download from this site contains the full docs and so does the download page here but Steam does not because they do not allow full documentation to be posted over there.
So if your stuck on Return to Helgen, your first step is to reads THESE DOCS first from this website.
The second thing to know is very few of my mods are written with a quest line that runs in a linear A B C sort of way. I prefer introducing quests in a logic manner. Such as restoring Helgen introduces quests for the hunters guild, simple ones. It also introduces a mining quest which leads to a smithy quest.
Patrol quests need you to have chosen a side in the civil war and once the mod knows what side your on, it introduces more quests for you.
That sort of thing.
Return to Helgen V2 Released

So I do not forget what I have done whilst I take a break from making Skyrim mods for you all for a bit. I am releasing Return to Helgen V2 as is. Helgen V2 contains some major changes and bug fixes over previous versions and removes all dodgy script commands and quests that use them so the mod runs much better now.
The mannequins in the commanders quarters are gone now, deleted because they where buggy even in the default game homes. If you missed the warning about it posted weeks ago, that is your own fault, do not bother moaning at me about it.
I will include the full Version 2 change log at the end of this news item for you all but will give you the high lights now.
The Manniquins and mostl quests that needed timers to work are gone. Including the script that refilled the Ore Chest, it now works by respawning instead. Everything now happens instantly via topics or triggers.
This solves the registeronupdate commands problems which cause it to run the quests very few days over and over again regardless of what I told the command to do via the script.
You will find the "fast travel disabled" feature of patrols has also been removed since that did not work either half the time. Another buggy Skyrim script command, one of many.
These changes and others make the mod much less glitchy.
This mod adds a new Penitus Oculatus Outpost to Helgen once you reach a certain point in the imperial quest line within the mod. The outpost comes with new characters and quests which you may get by speaking to the commanders assistance in the commanders quarters. He will inform you when Mr Smith wishes to speak to you.
Additional messages have been added to inform you when you are in Helgen if something needs your attention.
Penitus Oculatus agents can also be seen on the roads leading out of Helgen once the Outpost is built.
One more vital bit of information.
Support for Matys “Knights of the Nine V2.6” mod added to mod for future quests that will involve the Knights of the Nine. Without this mod you will see only ebony armour, with this mod the Knights will look like Knights of the Nine. So it is strongly recommended.
