This blog is a little down beat but I want to mark this point with some sort of statement before I move on and leave the twats behind.
We had relatives visiting this week so nothing what so ever got done. Even surfing the net proved impossible most days. They have gone home now so I am hoping things will return to normal again.
I have received 2 comments about Return To Helgen v2 since its release, both from users who have problems. None of those problems can be confirmed. It looks like the mod is not actually being played, given the number of people who have stopped playing TES games since Skyrims release, this is not really a surprise. But is note worthy here in the blog.
That does not mean I will give up on Helgen though, but given the recent lack of trust I had in my forum users feedback because many were not actually using the mods or reading the site before posting none sense in my threads and disrupting things.
I am inclined to move forward with my own plan for Helgen without asking for further feedback on the idea. I know some of you do play my mods or prefer not to speak, and I know some of you are honest enough to tell me your not using my mods right now and you have my thanks for that.
But I feel, asking for player feedback is a asking for bullshit and whilst I have made all the bullshitter feel unwelcome since the forum argument and the forum is starting to feel honest and reliable again, I am still not convinced the message has sunk in with the reminding bullshitters who stuck around. So I am going to give it a little longer.
Also I need a break from that and this is how I get it.
On another note, without using Nexus or Bethesdas website the number of people that know my mods exist is pretty low. This is a blessing not a curse. More users means more trolls and more trouble. But it does make it hard to replace users who lose interest in Skyrim with new mod users.
It says nothing about my mods other than they are good enough to attract at least 2000 regular followers on steam without any help from anywhere but this site. Which is pretty good.
Most mods barely get noticed even with the help of the TES community.
Interestingly, the 2000+ subscribers that I get from Steam is matched by an average of 1200 downloads from here. So this site serves third of my mod users on its own. I believe that 3rd are people that choose not to use Steam.
This interesting statistic tells me posting on Steams forum about mods not only gets very few replies but barely increases the interest in a mod. Where as videos about the best mods available usually add an extra 1000 subscribes to a mod because such videos have become popular these days.
Just something I noticed.
I have been neglecting my Youtube Channel of late and will be doing something about that soon. A CUO style video is in order I think to show off how my mods work together.
Summer is coming and when it arrives this site is going to feel dead due to recent troubles on the forum. But new content is the cure for that and new content is what I'll provide. It will pick up again in October as usual.
I do want to express an interest in returning to mod Bohemia Interactive's combat simulators. I did some pretty cool missions for the original Operation Flashpoint series and have preordered ArmA 3 so I can already play it.
For once I have a computer capable of running it at max detail too and ArmA 3 totally blows away the Call of Duty games with its realism and simulation aspects. It is a statement of what a PC can do and how much was have lost due to these console ports.
The sort of missions I like to make for that game tend to me ones that work on and off line. For example my Riveria mission has the player landing by sea, helcopter or armoured vehicle. Every squad member in every vehicle could be replaced by a player or left to the AI to control. Making the mission ideal for single player and multiplayer.
I also did a CTF, Paintball and other combat missions for Operation Flashpoint too, as well as the Everon Rally which was a race across Everon to a finishing line. Along the way, anything goes and usually did. Especially since the road was guarded by enemy in several places :)
But that was old work, I got distracted by Mechwarrior 4 modding at Mechstorm and so did not return to mod Bohemia's games.
On the topic of Skyrim, its appeal seems to be dying off with many players but I am looking for the new players that turn up to play it. I would point out that Skyrim is already £20 on Steam. Oblivion stayed full price for nearly half a decade. Says a lot.
The Origin of the trouble (EA Story)

After building my self a new computer I decided to register all my Sims 3 addons with EA on Origin so I could download them from Origin and use the Sims 3 editor. Because I had purchased all the addons on Steam. I had all the keys I needed so transferring them was not a problem.
After loading up the Sims 3 on Origin I noticed a lot of my purchases from the Sims 3 Store was missing. Including Barnical Bay. So I searched the net for answers and found many players with similar issues were blaming Origin.
So I uninstalled all Sims 3 addons from Origin and reinstalled them from Steam.
Guess what... Yup they all worked perfectly.
Including the stuff I purchased from the Sims 3 Store.
So EA's Origin seems to be screwing up the Sims 3. Not only that, EAs Sims 3 Store seems to be down a lot and has a lot of other problems.
Does anybody else out there get the feeling that whilst EA sell some of the most expensive and worst value for money games on the planet, their servers and services such big time.

I strongly recommend users of Return to Helgen download Matys Knights of the Nine Armour for version 2 of Helgen.

As part of the Penitus Oculatus plot, the player will be encountering the last of the nine in Skyrim. A group of Knights hunted by the Thalmor for their beliefs. Now the last of them take a stand against the Thalmor and their blasphemy.
You will need to run matys armour mod after Helgen to see the Knights in their true colours.
Because of the way this trick works with out me needing to edit Matys mod at all. You only see matys armour if you do run his mod after Helgen. If you run it before Helgen or choose not to use his Armour mod, you will see Ebony armour instead.
I have no plans to make the Knights a joinable faction in this mod but may do it in a separate mod later on.

I am having a funny month.
If I am not planting raspberries and strawberries for people, I am decorating, sorting out their routers wifi or laying floors in their attic... no wait, that is what I'll be doing tomorrow. Then next week we have guests coming to stay.
Social lifes are okay but I like my me time too.
Arguments on the site make me not want to do any modding, it puts me off doing anything with the intension of sharing it to be honest. This week users who failed to read the blogs more or less hijacked my poll about the Helgen Emperor idea and caused arguments over stuff I didnt even say I was making and that annoyed me.
You see the thought that pops in to my mind when people go off half cocked like that without having read anything recently is this.
Why would they read anything I post after that point if they did not read anything before that point. Typing any sort of message to them is pointless. I might as well strip naked and do a rain dance for all the good explaining things would do.
Anyway, as a result of various things I have not gotten a lot done this week. Other than confirm the Skyrim height editor is the same buggy piece of shit it was back in the Oblivion days, the Fallout 3 days, and the Fallout NV days. No fixes, no changes, nothing because Bethesda do not use that to make their worlds so they did not fix it.
Somebody asked me recently if I think Bethesda will stop supporting mods soon and I said yes, the reason is not because they have a view on it, it is simply because they share the tools they use and in recent games they have been using third party editor addons ot tools and its getting to the point now were not much of the current editor is actually being used to make their games any more.
When they finally stop using the tool kit they share with us, they will stop supporting mods directly.
Let us not forget Beth do not provide editors for all games they publish, its not exactly their policy to support mods, its just a case that the TES and Fallout games use the same engine and there are tools for that engine.
Plus Beth have in recent months taken a very anti mod stand, where as they never did before. In Skyrim they took a big leap towards the consoles, were as in the past they favored the PC.
But most of all are becoming another EA, eg publisher that distances it self from their fans. They even have a special guy called Gstaff to block all reports and stuff fans might send them and bans those who try too hard to get a message though.
So it does not matter how you try and reach them. It goes through Gstaff first and he is a Ahole.
However I happen to know Bethesda staff watch youtube and the forums so just make video and post it on their forums, your chances of contacting them goes up by a few bazllion percent that way.
Epiphany: I hate net users

I have come to the conclusion I hate net users, well not all, not all the time, just most of them right now because I am in a bad mood.
I am the sort of guy you only see in multiplayer when I want to kill some net twats. Its a way to de-stress and relax. Every enemy player becomes a faceless net twat to take my frustrations out on. That always lightens my mood and calms me down.
Twat Fragging.... best relaxation technique I know.
Where those idiots get the idea that gaming makes people kill folk in real life is a mystery to me, all I want to do after gaming is watch TV. If anything, they should give those scum suckers a free copy of call of duty and season 8 of Supernatural for when they are done.
It will help them get passed their urge to kill school kids.
I like single player, there is no net twats in a single player game. No internet messaging service to break my concentration. Its a pure joy to ... well play with my self.... play the game... the game.... not that....
Only a total idiot would make a single player game in to a multiplayer game without realizing single player fans like the peace and freedom and hate the messages and net twats.
It would be like holding a red flag up to a bull, you just do not do it unless you are a corportate twat out of touch with your customers.
Talking of EA....
Why do they insist on forcing people that hate the twats online to play games with them ? Seriously, why force people who play off line for a good reason to play online in games like Simcity 5 ?
And when you have a good multiplayer gamed like Battlefield, why ruin it by adding single player features or using a webpage for a menu. Battlefield has not been worth playing since BF2, everything after that has been shit.
I thought companies like EA had market research groups to help them learn these things and get produce releases right. All I can say is they must be pretty shit market research groups to miss those points.
Next they will be releasing games for grannies that like to rap.
Anyway thanks for listening.... off to find some net twats to kill online... If I can find a multiplayer game EA has not ruined.

Just a note about some changes to Helgen V2.
I have cleaned up the patrol quest so you now get paid for doing it and made it use quest objectives instead of debug notices to tell you when the quest is over. Its much neater than it used to be.
Also, so players know when to report to the commanders assistant for assignment and promotion, I have added some quest reminders that trigger when you walk through Helgen and the Commanders assistant wants to speak to you.
This should make the mod much more user friendly.
Preparing for part 2 and 3 of Helgen

I have been busy the past few days helping a friend but am now back on the job. I created a new character about 5 days ago after I noticed Skyrim hates me removing overhauls. I think that is why I got the half naked guards problem.
Currently I am working up to the point where this character can do part 2 of the Return to Helgen mod, the part that can do the Penitus Oculatus quests. I have already written 3 and have 7 more to go.
I have some ideas for the next 4 or 5 quests I want to work on right now ands an intermission quest where you get to witness how the Thalmor react to your successful missions which I am not counting towards the 10, its just quest candy if I do it.
I am still thinking about making part 3 a separate mod, some of you understand the issue I face if i include it in Helgen. I can still have part 3 trigger at the right time by adding conditions that the player must have finished the Civil war quest and the Dark brotherhood must have assassinated the Emperor. By doing that, Helgen and the Storm Crown can update them selves at the same time and appear to work together.
