The Engineering Guild Modding Agreement
Date: 29 March 2012
This mod agreement/license may be updated without prior warning. The newest version of this agreement always applies unless a mod requires unique permissions in which case I will say so in the mods docs.
Users will remember at all times that we make mods for fun and not for profit, we give the players mods as gifts and expect a "thank you" in response not abuse. Users that forget their manners should not expect us to remember ours.
We are not a shop, you have no rights here, we owe you nothing.
The players importance to a modder put in perspective.
The modding process involves 1 game, 1 modder and a computer. No community, no tool maker,no patch maker, no player and certainly no internet site is vital to the modding process.
That means if you are not the game, not the modder or his computer, you are OPTIONAL components the modder can do without.
You will remember it is the modder that does all the work, takes all the risks when sharing his hard work with you for free and will address the modder appropriately at all times or I will demonstrate just how optional you really are by limiting or denying you access to anything made here.
A "Thank You" would be considered appropriate for those who cannot figure out how to address a modder who makes mods you use.
The guild reserves the right to host our mods here at The Engineering Guild and choose who we want downloading them or who we wish to allow to view our news about them.
The Mushroom Policy
Supporting a community and it's download sites is a courtesy we offer to friendly communities so players can find our work easily. When a community turns out to be hostile, unfriendly, or allows rip off merchants, cyberstalkers or other dangerous net predators to operate openly, or is seen to be supporting trolls at any level. We will drop support for those communities instantly and add them to our Mushroom List.
Back in 2009 on the day TEG opened, Nexus and Bethesdas forums were added to that list. No user on those forums has been informed by us of anything we have done here since that date.
And I have made some of the best mods since leaving those communities.
This website (TEG) is the only place where news is always posted.
Translations of my mods
Translations are treated differently from English versions of my mods.
I (giskard) have always allowed translations of my mods in to languages other than English by people who have not previously been told to keep away from me, my site and my mods.
Should you or anybody else attempt to translate your mod back in to English, then you will be subject to the FULL English Permissions to edit my mods as described below.
English Permissions to edit my mods.
Due to heavily abuse of my permissions by wankers in the Elder Scrolls modding forums, permission to edit my mods is DENIED BY DEFAULT.
Keep your hands off unless you have gotten specific permission from me first.
That includes making patches that contains content from my esp or esm files. If I made it, you have to ask me for my permission before editing it or the answer will be an automatic NO.
Any loose files I have created like Textures, Meshes, Sound files, Dialog audio may be considered modders resources unless the mods docs specifically says they are NOT modders resources.
This is usually true when I have gotten permission to use other modders work, in which case you need to contact that modder for permission or see their readme rather than mine.
Asking for Permission.
You may email me to ask for permission or pm me on The Engineering Guilds forum and ask for permission. Keeping a copy of my reply as proof that permission was given in case I forget who you are and ask for proof of prior permissions being given.
Which is likely, I talk to a lot of different people every week.
A screenshot of the pm will be required, or the original email, including the header will be enough.
Pming me from other sites will result in a denial of permissions on the spot. All permissions must be given on systems I control or can verify has not been tampered with.
The Guild recognizes the Developer/Publishers own copyright over their own work and any derivative work, including anything created using tools supplied by that developer and acknowledges the copyright holders rights take priority over this agreement.
Including any artwork used on this website from a developer or publishers game.
I will decide if I want to mod under a specific games Eula before I make any mods that game. So this not only takes priority but is actually the first document I read before modding a game anyway.
All rights reserved
I reserve my rights over work wholly created by me, including this website and what I choose to do with it or on it. Including changing my mind about permissions already given if a user or group cause me trouble.
I also reserve the right to charge for membership, have a happy hour where drinks are half price or turn the TEG in to a brothel. It is my website, I own it. I will do as I please here within the limits of the law.
