About the Forum Rules
These rules are intended to promote friendly and polite usage of our forum but moderators are free to act against anybody who acts against the spirit of these rules. So any troll playing the rule quoting game to get out of being punished, will be punished anyway if they have acted against the spirit of these rules.
Each punishment awards the forum user points, when they reach 20 points their account is suspended for 30 days, when they reach 30 points they are banned for life. Some breaches of the rules result in an instant ban, where as others result in a 30 day suspension.
English is the Language of this forum and English values apply to the meaning of words or phrases. Not American English.
The Forum Rules
1. Playing the Points Game
Some users may believe they can be rude to some folk because they only moderated once, then wait for that to expire and do it again. If we believe a user is doing that they will be banned on the spot. Moderator decisions are designed to encourage good behavior, not lay the ground work for bad behavior.

2. Failing to respect other Guild Users
We expect you to be friendly and polite towards other users at all times.
Punishment = 10 Penalty points
3. NO Ranting or Venting.
A rant or venting is a post which is long-winded, redundant and filled with angry, non-constructive comments. A free exchange of ideas is essential to building a strong sense of community and helpful in the development of mods, but rants are disruptive and incite flaming and trolling. Please post your thoughts in a concise, clear manner and avoid going off on rambling tangents. We know this is hard but we insist all users make the attempt.
Punishment = 2 Penalty points
4. No Personal Attacks.
If you make your post personal in any negative way, you will be moderated for it.
Punishment = 20 Penalty Points (Instant 30 day Suspension)
5. NO Trolling.
Trolling is the word used to describe a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting the members of the forum community. Posts of this nature are disruptive and do not convey a friendly attitude.
Punishment = 10 Penalty points
6. NO Time Wasting.
This rule is intended for mod development and help given or asked for by the users on this forum.
A time waster is considered to be one of the following types of users.
A user that agrees to help but then fails to help a mod maker and fails to say they cannot help within a reasonable time frame.
A modder that asks for help then vanishes for more than 30 days without updating those he left behind. People will still be assuming you need help until you tell them to stop. Modders who put projects on hold or cancel them are encouraged to make a declaration to that effect so to avoid being banned for time wasting. If your not going to be around for 6 weeks, say so and you will be given 6 weeks before this rule is enforced. Say nothing about your absence and you will be held to account under rule 6 and banned.
A user that posts feedback or posts a report but fails to provide full information about bugs or issues or other required topics after being asked to do so.
If you do not know the answers, you must say you do not know. That is a requirement on this forum.
A user that is involved in a beta test for something else and makes reports of issues to us that may be the result of the other beta or using a save from a beta without declaring it first.
If your using another beta such as an official beta patch, have the good sense not to make mod bug reports. Your hardly a reliable tester when using other beta software.
Users that ask for help then ignore all help offered or fails to tell those posting help requests that they found a solution.
Be considerate, keep others informed, especially if your asking for help or offering help.

7. No posting of personal information
Please respect the privacy of other Engineering Guild users and do not give out information such as phone numbers and addresses.
Punishment = 5 Penalty points
8. Private communication between the The Engineering Guild Staff and the forum users is not to be made public without prior permission of the Staff member involved.
Punishment = 20 Penalty Points (Instant 30 day Suspension)
9. Warnings and bans are not to be discussed on the forum.
Punishment = 5 Penalty points
10. No posting pornography
Punishment = 30 Penalty Points (Life Time Ban)
11. No posting discriminatory remarks which are sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive.
Punishment = 20 Penalty Points (Instant 30 day Suspension)
12. No posting excessive obscene or vulgar language
Punishment = 5 Points
13. No posts which discuss or illustrate or link to illegal activity.
Punishment = 5 Penalty Points
14. No Spamming

15. No Impersonating another forum user, moderator, volunteer, administrator of The Engineering Guild
Punishment = 20 Penalty Points (Instant 30 day Suspension)
16. No "Newbie" bashing.
Punishment = 5 Penalty Points
17. Signature graphics must never exceed these limits.
The size limits for signature graphics are as follows:
* Maximum height: 110 pixels
* Maximum width: 640 pixels
* Maximum file size: 100KB
Only one image is allowed to be used in the signature.
Punishment = 1 Penalty Point
18. Avatar graphics must never exceed these limits.
* Maximum height: 100 pixels
* Maximum width: 100 pixels
* Maximum file size: 50k
Punishment = 1 Penalty Points
19. No Negative or destructive arguments from other communities.
Punishment = 5 Penalty Point
20. No abusive PMs.
This website does not tolerate users that send Abusive PMs, those who receive one should provide proof to us using the contact us link at the bottom of this page.

21. No proxy usage except with permission.

22. The patriot rule.
Attempting to stop users from another country from talking about issues you would allow your own countrymen to talk about freely is considered a racist act and thus a bannable offence. If any talk is considered offensive to a country, The correct procedure is to report it to an administrator or moderator and then point to the offensive part and explain why it's offensive to you. Should the administrator or moderator agree, it will be dealt with. Should they believe you're being a troll and trying to stifle legitimate debate or turn it in to flame, you will be banned from this site. Religion is not covered by this rule and we recommend you avoid it. Political debates should always try and remain balanced and fair at all times and avoid hatemongering or face the Troll rule above.

25. Abuse of the Rules in the Serious Discussion Forum
If you use the Serious Discussion Forum and break these rules, EXPECT NO MERCY!

26. No Poison Pills.
A Poison Pill is the bad taste some users choose to leave behind when they wish to leave the forum or quit a job or stop doing something for somebody. Instead of just quitting or leaving and stopping there, they make statements intended to cause trouble on the forum. Or stir up trouble for the site on other forums. That is what a Poison Pill is.
