The Cyrodiil Upgrade is a collection of mods offered to Guild Members only that upgrade Cyrodiil in a Lore friendly way. These mods are always being updated, refined and improved, some mods whilst not directly replaced are being supplanted as a major components as you will see when Kvatch Rising takes its place in my collection of lore mods and pushes Kvatch Aftermath down the list a little. You still have the choice to use either of course. That choice is the whole point of the Cyrodiil Upgrade.

To qualify as a Cyrodiil Upgrade mod the mod must be lore based or lore friendly. Eg no Arch Mage Gandalf allowed here.

Cyrodiil Upgrade mods also blurr the lines between mods as much as possible by communication with each other or by using trickry to make it look like they are. The end result is that they fit almost seemlessly in to the game. At least that is the plan.

So far the Cyrodiil Upgrade has upgrades kvatch (strict lore version on its way too), upgraded the mages guild, upgraded the fighters guild, upgraded the entire games baddies with lore friendly armour, equipment and monsters. Added Dwemer areas along the border of morrowind, upgraded the Palace and added the valenwood city of Arenthia to the game as well as adding over a dozen lore based quests to the game. Many repeatable quests and features that add greater immersion to the entire game have also been inserted in to oblivion.

It has greatly improved the life in the game too in many ways and for many people, oblivion cannot be played without these mods anymore.

The best Cyrodiil Upgrade mods identify an area that needs filling that will add the most to the game then plugs that hole, giving a more complete experience to the player. The strict lore mods that form part of the Cyrodiil Upgrade are especially good at this. Currently the strict lore mods are......

Origin of the Mages Guild

The Elder Council

Kvatch Rising

The latter is currently in production but most people use KVatch Aftermath right now because it one of the best Kvatch mods available currently.
